The full moon is a marker that 2 weeks have passed since the new moon and so half the month has passed.
The sun offers no such distinction.
The moon is the time keeper of the month as implied by its name being so similar to the word month.
Solar clocks could not hide this fact.
The moon was always the one looked to for counting and knowing where we are in the month, the new moon marks the start of a new month and the full moon is 2 weeks later.
6 months after this full moon in scorpio we will have the new moon in scorpio which will be the start of the month of Scorpio.
Solar vs Lunar charts
As an astrologer I have to know both the solar and lunar charts so that I can be aware of where I am in time on earth in terms of mainstream but I know that the moon is the real time keeper in the sense of the cycles within the day, month, and year. The sun and the moon operate in relation to one another because they are the 2 luminaries, we definitely need both. However, placing the sun as the determiner of the month is a hijacking done to force external values or ego based values on humanity. I will explain what I mean. The moon is the fastest moving luminary in the heavens, and governs our inner lives, and takes 1 month to travel the entire zodiac. Meaning she goes through all 12 signs within 28 days like the woman’s cycle, and starts again in a new sign. The sun takes 1 whole year to do what the moon does in less than 30 days. So we can see that the moon is much more active in 1 year, it will have traveled 13 times through all the signs. The solar charts change the year to 12 months because the sun takes longer than the moon to travel through the signs. The solar charts attempt to empower the father over the mother and sort of takes the mother out of the picture. So this is why it is important to know sidereal and tropical astrology or western and eastern. This is a deep topic for another time...
Phases of the moon
Each phase within the cycle is a marker for us energetically. It lets us know many things in terms of our positioning and what energies we have more access to in the moment. This is why many rituals are done using the moon’s phases.

The full moon let’s us know that the sun is now exactly opposite as in 180° away from the sun. This energy is expressing a need for balance, whereas the new moon already expresses harmony because the sun and moon are together as one. I will write more about what each moon phase means in a separate post because my intention today is to talk more about the current full moon.

Moon in Scorpio
When the moon goes into scorpio it is considered to be in detriment or in its fall and is exalted in the opposite sign Taurus. The moon in scorpio is a time to dig deep and go down into our deepest of emotions. This is a more positive spin on the moon in scorpio. The moon has not fallen per se, but it grants the opportunity to transform hidden feelings and unexplored emotional territory. This way of being would be normal for someone born when the moon was actually in scorpio like me. So emotions are deep but also heightened in this brief period and if used wisely it can allow one to transform a hidden aspect of one’s life. There are many ways this can happen so I am leaving that part open for you to know based on your own experience and because it depends on where Scorpio is in the individual chart.

Full moon trine Mars
This full moon is happening while Mars is in cancer. This creates a mutual reception because mars is in the sign of the moon and the moon is in the sign of mars. Cancer and scorpio are both water signs that deal with the feelings, water, and emotional aspects of life. These two energies being in one another’s home and it being water means that mars and the moon can feel and understand one another very well. This dynamic sort of neutralises the negative effects of these planets being in their signs of detriment because remember mars is also not too happy in cancer being that it is exalted in its opposite sign Capricorn.
This is all to say that while this full moon is very emotionally deep and intense, the outcome can bring blessings due to both the mutual reception and the trine aspects. Also Neptune is involved in this blessing because it creates a grand trine with mars in cancer, and moon in Scorpio, making all water houses active. This full moon is a grand opportunity to release any emotional hang ups that just do not serve a positive purpose anymore. Also to discover some things that needed to come to the surface for transformation.
A beautiful balancing factor in Taurus
The last thing I want to say about this full moon is that the concentration of planets in Taurus (Sun, Venus, Mercury and Uranus) ensures for us that no matter how emotionally deep we go in these few days, we will maintain a practical and grounded disposition at the same time. That is what I love about this full moon. Venus is in her natural domicile in Taurus so this full moon was actually very very beautiful and we can see it again tonight and tomorrow and then it will start to wane.
Happy full moon
I’m starting a cleanse tomorrow
